Meet Our Retreat Team
Wayne Burbach has five kids, loves spending time with family and friends, has a great sense of humor, loves art, camping, awkward stories, pop culture references, fixing things, Jesus, and the Catholic Church. After several moves, from Oregon to eventually Missouri, he settled in St. Charles, MO and attended St. Charles West High School.
Wayne currently serves as the Mission Engagement and Communication Manager at the Marianist Retreat and Conference Center where he assists with marketing, networking, and creating programs and service/volunteer opportunities while working closely with the MORE Team. With over 30 years of ministry experience, Wayne has a passion for serving others, a heart for ministry across all generations, construction knowledge, and innovative thinking. After attending Kenrick/ Glennon Seminary, he went on to UMSL for a Business Management Information Systems degree.
Wayne and his family live in St. Charles, MO and are member of St. Cletus Parish in St. Charles.
Tim Chik has a wife and kids, chops wood, fixes stuff, knows some things, loves Jesus and loves the Catholic Church. He went to St. Louis University High School in St. Louis.
He currently serves as a Leadership Consultant with the Catholic Leadership Institute, accompanying leaders as they discern, grow, and strengthen their mission. He has formerly worked on the leadership team with Life on Belay, building partnerships with non-profit organizations across the country to strengthen communities and support families. He spent more than a decade with the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas, directing operations for Savior Pastoral Center where he worked alongside Archbishop Joseph F. Naumann and diocesan leadership in support of evangelization, discipleship, and formation. Earlier in his career, Tim held leadership roles in Catholic education at St. Louis University High School, where he combined teaching, coaching, and pastoral formation. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Saint Louis University, where he graduated magna cum laude.
Tim and his family reside in O’Fallon, Missouri, and are members of St. Joseph Parish in Cottleville, MO.
Paul Halfmann is married with seven kids. He’s an avid cyclist, loves to work out, and enjoys watching sports with his grown sons. He went to Bishop DuBourg High School.
He and his wife Kay founded D:6 Ministries, which helps parents pass on the Catholic faith, and he is now the executive director of The Domestic Church Initiative which helps parents create a culture of prayer and forgiveness in the home. He has worked in the Archdiocese of St. Louis on retreat teams for youth and was the director of Jeffco Life Teen for nearly a decade. Paul has led Catholic pilgrimage trips, both domestic and international, to shrines throughout the world.
Paul was raised in South St. Louis where he attended St. Mary Magdalen grade school, and he graduated from the University of Missouri-Saint Louis with a degree in Business Finance.
Paul and his wife, Kay, have ten grandchildren and are parishioners at St. Joseph Parish in Imperial, MO.
Paul Masek is married with children and enjoys hunting, harvesting, preparing, cooking, and consuming venison. When it is not deer season he can be found reminiscing on previous deer seasons, planning for future deer seasons, or both. He went to high school at Mercy High in University City.
He currently serves as the program director at the Marianist Retreat and Conference Center where his duties include doing what needs to be done and directing the MORE Team – a retreat ministry which offers retreat at our retreat center and out in the community. He is a veteran retreat leader who served for over thirty years in the Archdiocese of St. Louis working for the Charismatic Renewal, Catholic Education Office, Office of Youth Ministry, and Catholic Youth Apostolate directing the REAP Team. He attended, and graduated from, Benedictine College in Atchison, KS with an English major and a double minor in religious studies and education.
Paul and his family live in Maryland Heights, MO and are members of Incarnate Word Parish in Chesterfield, MO.
