What can we learn from a sixteenth century Spanish mystic, Roman Catholic Saint,
Carmelite nun and author?

Join us for a special retreat weekend July 29-31, 2022, offering sacred space and time to explore The Seven Mansions of Teresa of Avila’s Interior Castle. Inspired by St. Teresa’s vision of the soul as a diamond in the shape of a castle containing seven mansions, we will explore the stages that we go through as we are seeking to know our God.

Teresa of Avila is one of Christianity’s great teachers. The Seven Mansions of the Interior Castle is her final work and one of the most profound literary works on Christian prayer. Prayer stood at the center of Teresa’s teaching; she considered a life of prayer in terms of love and deepening relationship with God. Together we will reflect on the light of Teresa’s timeless insights into the human soul, its journey toward God, and how Teresa’s teaching is relevant to our personal contemporary spiritual journey today.

People of all ages and in all stages of spirituality are welcome to this retreat, which will include large group presentations, small group discussions, periods of reflection, and prayer in community. Doors will open at 5 pm Friday night, and the retreat will begin with dinner at 6 pm. This retreat will conclude before lunchtime on Sunday.

The Marianist Retreat & Conference Center is located on 120 acres adjacent to the Meramec River and features miles of forest trails, cliffs, streams, grotto, meadows and a sculpture garden. Every attendee will enjoy a private room with its own bathroom and shower. We are also famous for our delicious meals. Contact Paul Masek, Program Director of the Marianist Retreat Center, if you have any questions. His cell is 314.608.5447 and email is paul@marianistretreat.com
